Gut Defense

As a clinician, I see many patients that have recurrent issues with yeast infections, parasites and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. Often times, they have been through rounds of detoxification programs, gut healing protocols, etc. and they still struggle. This is because they have serious alterations in their gut mediated immunity.

Secretory IgA is the secreted form of an antibody in the blood called IgA. IgA is produced in the blood, taken into the gut, secreted across the mucosal lining into that mucous layer that is the surface lining of our digestive tract. It is the mucosal immune barrier or first line immune defense.

SIgA lies within the mucosal membrane of the entire digestive tract as well as our lungs, sinuses, eyes, urethra and vagina. It plays a significant role in neutralizing various pathogens like viruses, Candida, bacteria and parasites.

Signs of Poor Functioning SIgA:

What are Immunoglobins?

Immunoglobulins, also known as antibodies, defend the body directly by opposing and neutralizing various antigens or potentially harmful particles in the blood stream and various tissues of the body. Immunoglobins have a special ability to enable the immune system to differentiate between antigens and the body’s normal microflora.

Most antigens enter the body through mucosal tissue or stay localized on mucosal surfaces. It makes sense, then, that mucosal tissues are heavily populated with immune cells. In fact, it is estimated that the intestinal lining produces more antibodies than any other organ in the body. Aside from producing antibodies, the mucosal surface serves as a barrier that physically prevents antigens from entering circulation.

Supplemental IgG:

Though the body itself produces antibodies, supplementation may be beneficial in some individuals. It has been shown that the concentration of immunoglobulins in the digestive tract and on mucosal surfaces in adults is predictive of risk to immunity. [1, 2]

Stress and other conditions can reduce immunoglobulin secretion and antibody production.[3] In addition, damage to the intestinal wall resulting from stress, strenuous exercise, medications, or other causes affect gut barrier function and can make the body more vulnerable to antigens.*

The Highest Quality Immune Supplement:

Gut Defense™ is an immunoglobulin concentrate from colostral whey peptides that delivers a minimum of 40% IgG immunoglobulin along with an array of compounds, including growth factors, sialic acid, lactoferrin, proline-rich peptides (PRPs), oligosaccharides, and gangliosides.

Each of these components provides the user with different and complementary health benefits, such as fundamental support of immune function and modulation, lean body mass, brain and thymus health, microbiota modulation, and cytokine balance.*[1]

Oral consumption of immunoglobulins derived from colostrum is a means of supporting passive immunity, protecting the body, and eliminating unwanted molecules.[4, 5, 6] The most versatile, IgG, is capable of carrying out all of the functions of immunoglobulin molecules, accounting for Gut Defense’s broad range of immune-supportive effects.

Review of the research confirms that bovine colostrum supplementation confers other benefits, such as the maintenance of gastrointestinal integrity.[7, 8,9] Oral immunoglobulins have been used in sports nutrition to support lean body mass,[10] physical exercise, and recovery following high-intensity training.[11] The 2 grams of immunoglobulins in each serving of Gut Defense contribute to individual dosing requirements.*

Introducing Gut Defense:

Gut Defense™ is an immunoglobulin concentrate derived from colostral whey peptides. It delivers natural immunoglobulins (standardized to a minimum of 40% IgG), bioactive proteins, and growth factors.

These components support immune function, healthy cytokine activity, gut barrier function, and gastrointestinal health and tissue repair. Advanced coagulation and filtration techniques make IgG 2000 CWP a unique, GRAS formula that is superior in its bioactive composition and its purity.*

When I Use This:

This is a fantastic product for individuals who have chronic issues that have drained their gut mucosal immunity. These are the clients who continually struggle with recurrent parasites, yeast infections and food sensitivities. This product provides the necessary immune support to strengthen a beaten down immune system so it can fend off the pathogens and allow the body to restore harmony.

Additionally, this product is fantastic for immune support in individuals with immune compromised conditions such as HIV and cancer.
