Let's discuss the key benefits of Dopamine Plus:
Why Choose Dopamine Plus
I had signs of early onset Parkinsons and felt quite removed mentally. I began taking the Dopamine Plus and Brain Calm Magnesium and within a couple of days, memory improved and agitation vanished. I'm also beginning a light exercise program, drinking lots of fresh water and eating foods to improve this condition. Dopamine Plus
Commonly referred to as the “molecule of motivation,” dopamine helps give our brain the necessary focus and drive to perform our daily tasks. Dopamine is also very important to the reward and pleasure system of the brain, where it helps to create a sense of enjoyment from accomplishing our goals.
When individuals have low dopamine levels or dopamine resistance in their brain they will often have trouble handling stress and have feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness. Poor dopamine activity in the brain can often cause people to isolate themselves from others and experience self-destructive thoughts and behaviors (1).
Early signs of poor dopamine signaling can include trouble focusing and finishing tasks. Individuals with poor dopamine activity are often easily distracted and may suffer from symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (2).
Over the long term, poor dopamine activity in the brain can result in slowness of movement, hand tremors, and other pre-Parkinson’s symptoms.
What compounds support Dopamine production?
The top 2 supplemental compounds for boosting and improving dopamine activity in the brain are L-tyrosine and DL-Phenylalanine, which are amino acids necessary for dopamine synthesis.
In addition, vitamin B6 and vitamin C are important for dopamine synthesis, and 5-HTP should always be used in conjunction with L-tyrosine and DL-phenylalanine to balance overall neurotransmitter function.
DL-Phenylalanine (DLPA)
This is a combination of the d- and the l- forms of this essential amino acid. D-phenylalanine increases endorphin activity, which helps us feel good, reduces pain, and improves mood (3).
Meanwhile, L-phenylalanine boosts dopamine and norepinephrine, having a stimulatory effect on the body that improves focus and concentration (4).
Phenylalanine also helps with weight loss and sugar cravings because it has an appetite-suppressing effect. This takes place due to its ability to regulate the release of cholecystokinin, which in turn signals satiety in the brain (5).
Using DLPA has been shown to elevate mood, curb appetite, and reduce pain in the body. It is best to begin supplementation with 1 gram daily taken on an empty stomach.
L-Tyrosine:
This is an essential amino acid is needed for conversion into the catecholamine neurotransmitters stress depletes dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. It is also a precursor for the thyroid hormone thyroxine or T4.
L-tyrosine is used as a mood elevator, to increase alertness after sleep deprivation, and as an appetite suppressant (6).
L-tyrosine is the major amino acid precursor for the formation of dopamine. Thus, it helps with overall emotional well-being, mental drive, focus, and attention (7).
It is best to begin supplementation with 500 – 1000 mg taken on an empty stomach.
Vitamin B6:
It is required for the production of major neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. This is why it is implicated in the treatment of mood and anxiety (8, 9).
Low B6 levels are very common in our society and lead to decreased cognitive ability, lack of focus, low energy, and brain tissue atrophy. Taking high doses of B6 (750-150 mg daily) may increase mental and physical energy levels, improve communication between brain cells, and reduce neuronal damage and aging.
What is Dopamine Plus?
This is my go-to supplement to boost dopamine. I take this to improve focus and mental energy to produce at a higher level and enjoy life more.
I recommend this for my clients who are struggling with pain, low energy, and lack of focus. This supplement is different from taking a pure L-tyrosine or DL-phenylalanine supplement because it also includes B6 and 5-HTP, which are CRITICAL for balancing dopamine and serotonin levels.
Without the B6 and 5-HTP, an individual risks depleting serotonin levels, which can cause further neurotransmitter imbalances that can lead to adrenal exhaustion, insomnia, and pain.
Here is where Dopamine Plus is a unique and superior dopamine-boosting product compared to everything else on the market.
Additional Ingredients in Dopamine Plus:
5-Hydroxytryptophan (“5-HTP”):
5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) is a precursor to serotonin. It is well-absorbed in the intestine and easily crosses the blood-brain barrier (10).
Serotonin regulates many normal brain activities; influences other neurotransmitters, such as norepinephrine and dopamine; and is important in regulating mood and behavior, including food cravings. Research suggests that adequate levels of 5-HTP instill a sense of calmness and relaxation (11).
L-Glutamine:
This compound is well–recognized for gut and immune support and has also been espoused to reduce carbohydrate cravings and support alcohol and addictive drug withdrawal.
Chromium:
This compound, known as chromium picolinate, is widely used to optimize insulin function; thereby preventing swings in blood glucose levels that may be responsible for sugar and carbohydrate cravings. The mineral in the form present was indeed demonstrated to reduce carbohydrate cravings in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study (12).
Vitamin C:
Vitamin C participates in the enzyme activity of two enzymes that are critical to the synthesis of norepinephrine and serotonin.
In addition, vitamin C regulates the activity of some neurons within the brain that affect neurotransmitter membrane receptor synthesis and neurotransmitter dynamics (13).
What is the recommended dosage?
You will always want to take this supplement outside of meals. It can be taken up to 30 minutes before eating or 2 hours after eating. If you take it with meals, you won’t get as good of effects.
You can take this amount up to 3 times daily (in the early morning, mid-morning, and mid-afternoon). It is stimulating so you wouldn’t want to use it later in the day or risk it affecting sleep.
Decrease the dosage if you feel agitated or your blood pressure increases.
