I used to take glucosamine chondroitin and MSM for joint pain, which I used for osteoarthritis; but it had minimal effect. Since watching Summits and analyzing my diet of mostly plants, with minimal dairy and wild caught fish for protein, I discovered it might be oxalates! However I was drawn to this formula with turmeric and Boswellia, and wanted to try something to decrease inflammation. My joint pain has gotten better since I started the supplement, however I'm also doing other things like restricted time eating (16:8), working out with weights 2xweek and taking a new fish oil supplement. My husband and I will also be getting a home infrared sauna-to rid of toxins and metabolic weight. So I think its the whole picture-not just one supplement. - Kim

Inflam Defense

Introducing Inflam Defense™

This is a combination of herbs, nutrients and proteolytic enzymes for modulating the inflammatory response, supporting the natural clearance of proteins like kinin and fibrin, and for supporting healthy lymphatic drainage.

The ingredients in Inflam Defense™ provide natural anti-inflammatory effects and protect against oxidative stress.

Inflammation is an important part of our immune response. It is the body’s way of healing itself after an injury, repairing damaged tissue, and defending itself against pathogens. In this way, inflammation is beneficial. However, inflammation can also be harmful to your health. Learning what causes inflammation can help you protect yourself.

There are two types of inflammation, acute and chronic. Acute inflammation is your body’s natural defense against damaged cells, viruses and other harmful invaders. It starts quickly and helps the body heal itself.

Chronic inflammation is systemic, low-grade inflammation that lasts for months or years. It is the common cause of many health issues. In fact, chronic inflammation has been linked to almost every major health condition and disease. This is partly due to an excessive production of free radicals that can be damaging to cells if not controlled.

Not just one thing causes inflammation in the body. An inflammatory diet, blood sugar imbalances, and leaky gut syndrome cause chronic inflammation. Sleep loss, chronic stress, environmental toxins, and chronic infections are additional factors that lead to chronic inflammation. It is critical to understand and address these factors to achieve optimal health.

Curcumin:

Turmeric is an herb native to Southeast Asia that is a true super-food shown to have remarkable healing and anti-inflammatory properties that are just now being discovered (1).

The most clinically studied compound within turmeric is called curcumin.  Curcumin has been shown to reduce inflammation & oxidative stress as well as any herbal medicinal ever studied.

Ginger

Ginger is also an important part of a de-inflaming, natural pain-relief program. One compound called 6-gingerol has been shown to significantly inhibit the production of a highly reactive nitrogen molecule, nitric oxide, that quickly forms a dangerous free radical peroxynitrite.

Additionally, ginger helps to protect the bodies stores of glutathione (the super anti-oxidant and free radical destroyer) (23).  Due to its effect on glutathione and nitric oxide, ginger has been shown to protect the brain and nervous system from degenerative stress (4).

Boswelia:

Boswelia is commonly referred to as frankincense and the main ingredient is boswellic acids that are proven to be very effective in treating any kind of inflammation and pain related conditions that affect the joints, muscles, and tendons. Scientific studies have confirmed that this boswelia suppresses the production of the key inflammatory molecules related to the conditions like arthritis, painful bowel disorders and various other conditions (5).

The anti-inflammatory nature of boswelia is also proven to be very effective in preventing the breakdown of the cartilage tissues thereby making it one of the best natural remedies for any relieving any kind of inflammatory condition.

Quercetin and Rutin

Quercetin and rutin are active bioflavonoids incorporated into Inflam Defense for their role in moderating an exaggerated immune response. Bioflavonoids work synergistically with other antioxidants to protect tissues from the negative effects of oxidation and inflammation often observed during hyperimmune reactions (6)

In particular, these bioflavonoids help to inhibit mast cell degranulation and excess histamine release during hypersensitive inflammatory episodes

Immune-modulating  effects include inhibition of mast cell degranulation and prevention of histamine release during hypersensitive episodes (7,8,9)

Works well for joint pain relief

I was previously taking a Turmeric supplement for a couple of months. I switched to the Inflamm Defense and experience better relief. I plan to stick with these for a while.

Estrogen toxicity

The reason I get Inflam Defense is because after menopause I continue to have problems with symptoms of estrogen dominance. (Due to the version of the cyp gene that I have, I produce estrogen 4, which is inflammatory and causes DNA damage.) Since the detox gene (that produces enzymes) to metabolize estrogen is also lacking, I experience a landslide (of estrogen . The inflam defense is one of the products I recommend, to calm down estrogen toxicity.
