This product features the highest quality grass-fed bovine glandulars for neuroendocrine support.
I use this supplement with individuals that are dealing with major HPA axis dysfunction in the form of chronic fatigue, an under functioning pituitary gland and poor adaptation to stress.
Normal Dosage: 1 capsule – 2x daily with food
Advanced Dosage: 2 capsules – 2x daily with food
What is the HPA Axis:
The Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis is how the body perceives, experiences and adapts to stressors in the environment. The hypothalamus is a portion of the brain that acts like an antenna to sense what is happening in the blood stream to get a view of what we are experiencing in the world.
When the hypothalamus senses danger, it sends a rush of a neurohormone called corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH) to a small, but powerful gland called the pituitary gland. The pituitary sits in the very center of the brain.
The pituitary then sends a signal to the adrenals through a neurohormone called adrenal corticotropin hormone (ACTH). This tells the adrenals to pump up the production and release of stress hormones like cortisol, epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine.
The pituitary gland also sends signals in the form of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) down to the thyroid to tell it to produce more thyroid hormone when necessary. This glandular communication network is critical to health and human function.
HPA Axis Dysfunction:
When the HPA axis becomes disrupted from chronic stress, it throws off the delicate feedback loops. This can often be the root cause of thyroid problems, fatigue, poor sleep, insomnia, sugar cravings, irritability, depression and more.
To heal HPA Axis dysfunction, an individual needs to reduce stress and follow strategies to improve tissue rejuvenation and cell communication. Taking glandular extracts can be an important part of this healing process.
Glandular Extracts Improve Hormonal Function
Glandular therapy is a form of natural medicine that has a great success record. In glandular therapy, purified extracts from the endocrine glands of animals are used as nutritional supplements to restore a patient’s health.
Glandular and organ extracts are clinically known as protomorphogens and can be an important part of a complete nutritional program. The most common extracts are the following:
Glandular and organ extracts are used when an individual’s hormonal or specific organic systems are weakened or diseased.
Benefits of Glandular Therapy:
There are 3 principle nutritional benefits involved with using glandular extracts
- Active Components:
The glandular organs contain very the biochemical substances necessary for the function of the major gland they are working to strengthen.
- Associated Nutritional Factors:
Glandular tissues are rich sources of vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, polypeptides, enzymes, nucleic acids and many other vital substances. Glands supply potent sources of these essential nutrients in a highly efficient manner.
- Adaptogenic Effects:
Glandular therapy provides the raw materials needed for weak and failing organs, glands and tissues so they can go through the process of regeneration. The founder of functional medicine, Dr Jeffrey Bland, has suggested that glandular therapy works by providing small polypeptide, protein like substances which have specific messenger activity that acts on the target tissues.
Dr Bland believes that many of the hormones found in glandular tissues, even at low levels, have potent tissue-specific activities. These polypeptide substances help to strengthen weakened tissues and slow down overactive tissues. This adaptogenic quality allows it to help the body retain balance or homeostasis.
